Step #2: Learn about the Admission Requirements and Application Documents
Once you’re settled with the study program, your next step will be to check the requirements to apply for a degree program.

How to Apply for an Undergraduate Degree Program in Turkey
You must be a high school graduate. Next is this list of documents that you will need to complete before you apply:
- Application form
- High school diploma certification
- Transcripts
- TOEFL score card
- Motivation letter
- The fee payment voucher as a proof of application
- Certificate to attest you sat for school exit exams like SAT 1, International Baccalaureate, National Baccalaureate
- Letter to guarantee you are backed with sufficient financial funds to support yourself during studies.
The deadline for submissions in Turkish universities is before the 1st of August.
How to Apply for Graduate Degree in Turkey
Specific requirements are outlined when applying for Masters and PhD programs.
Following are the requirements:
- Application form
- Bachelor’s or Master’s diploma
- A statement of purpose (presenting your project and motivation)
- An updated CV
- Reference letters from professors and employers
- Transcript of records
- Graduate exam scores (depending on the pro gramme: GRE or GMAT)
- Language proficiency score (TOEFL, or a university’s proficiency test upon arrival)
- Written exams and/or interviews
- A letter which guarantees you have the financial funds to support yourself during your studies
The deadlines for the graduate programs are:
- End of May for the Fall program/semester
- End of December for the Spring program/semester
Step #3: Complete the Documentation and Wait for University’s Response
Once your documentation is complete, the application can be submitted. Even if you apply online, you have would have to send your documents mentioned above through courier and post.
In some cases, you have to be in Turkey to appear in the entrance programs or you might have to appear before the interview.
After applying, you will have to wait:
- Till Mid-August for Bachelor’s program before you can get a response from the University
- Mid-September for the Master’s and Ph.D program before you can hear back from the University.
After this you should wait for the acceptance letter, which details the next steps you would have to take. Steps are usually payment of fees and the application for the visa at the Turkish embassy.
Step #4: Apply for the Visa
The visa is issued in 8 weeks. You have to submit the University acceptance letter along with the visa application form filled. Applying in advanced is strongly suggested.

Step #5: Prepare for Tuition Fees and Living Expenses
By this time you’re waiting for the visa to be issued and you could fly to your university in Turkey; make sure you understand the expenses you would incur Turkey.
Normally, the tuition fees for the international students are as follows:
- Bachelors in English language – USD 400 to 1500 per year
- Bachelors in Turkish language – USD 240 to 750 per year
- Masters in English – USD 600 to 900 per year
- Masters in Turkish – USD 300 to 600 per year
- Living Costs go up to USD 350 to 500 a month.
- Add an extra USD 100 to 150 per semester for the books and the administrative fees.
