Jagiellonian University in Krakow

UJ is the oldest university in Poland, the second oldest university in Central Europe (after Charles University in Prague) and one of the oldest universities in the world.

Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań

Applying to study in Poland

To apply you have to submit your previous qualifications of your studies, along with proof of English proficiency like IELTS or TOEFL. You can also choose to study in Polish but the language is not easy to grasp, you will have to sit for an year to completely learn the language.

Fees and funding in Poland

Higher education is free of cost for Polish nationals. If you want to benefit from the same advantage, you will have to sit for the entrance exams and study a course taught in the polish language.

Tuition Fees range up to $2300 to $4530 per year at public universities. Private universities can charge a bit higher fees going up to $6800 per year.

Recently, the Polish Universities have abolished charging full fees in full up-front, which could limit the international students from heading to the country.

Polish universities also offer scholarship programs you can benefit with. You will have to check your credentials that meet the requirements to win the scholarships. But you might still need some expenses to cover while you stay in Poland.

Living costs

Poland is economically affordable and cheaper than the rest of the Europe. That’s a major plus point. This could push your entire stay to cost double than your total education fees. So many students from the Asian countries prefer Poland to be their destination for higher studies.

As a student you will need $320 to $600 per month to cover your living costs, including accommodation. But the accommodation in the student halls of residence is much cheaper; costing around $110 to $160 a month.

Shared flats can cost up to $270 to $400 dollars a month.

Health insurance is a must for all students for their complete stay in Poland. EU nationals are eligible for discounted health insurance fees. Non-EU students will have to procure health insurance as soon as they arrive in Poland.

Visas to study in Poland

Student visa is necessary for non-EU students arriving in Poland. EU citizens can however apply for a temporary residency permit and they don’t need a visa to settle and study in Poland.
